CO-FARM Update

Provecho Collective has paused the development of CO-FARM after careful review and consideration.

CO-FARM was designed as a tool to support community-led planning for local food systems through the use of emerging technology. After testing an initial version, it became clear that it wasn’t delivering the level of usability or insights as intended, and needed to help Colorado communities create food sovereignty road maps.

While we won’t continue investing in CO-FARM, we will carry forward important learnings and lessons from this project:

  • Strong body of research on food sovereignty in Colorado, including a comprehensive literature review developed in partnership with the University of Colorado-Boulder, to help inform future efforts
  • Deeper understanding of how data and shared measurement could support food systems change – and ways to engage partners in such work
  • Need to further explore the role, limitations, and ethical considerations of AI in community-centered work

All of this will guide how we continue working alongside Colorado communities and advancing local solutions so there’s food for all, today and tomorrow.
