Dear Community Members, Partners, and Funders,
Over the last eight years, Provecho Collective, formerly the Colorado Blueprint to End Hunger has worked with you to reduce hunger in Colorado, champion food sovereignty, and build a resilient and just food system. This organization was established in 2018 as a temporary project with the purpose of reducing hunger across the state. The project was meant to sunset in 2024. With careful consideration, the Provecho Collective Advisory Board has made an important decision. We are transitioning the organization with the intention to close operations by the end of 2027. Provecho Collective will pause operations for the month of August. During this time we will restructure our team. We are confident that through this process, we can fulfill our current obligations with the leadership from
our Executive Director, Dolores Ramirez.
We know that Colorado’s Food System lacks coordination and pits partners against each other for limited resources. For this reason we will not pursue further funding opportunities. Instead we commit to leading uncomfortable conversations around sunsetting and essential conversations around collaboration.
We have asked ourselves some important questions:
- Is our current structure the best way to support the communities we serve?
- Is our work being done well?
- Are we transforming poorly functioning systems?
- How can we better steward resources for greater statewide impact?
- How can we strengthen our role as a connector, convener, and catalyst for community-led change?
This was not an easy decision. Nor was our decision made in response to a single challenge. Instead we considered multiple factors and an abundance of feedback. We know this decision is bold and in the best service to community led anti-hunger work, which must continue across Colorado.
