Community Funding

Investing in today’s work to grow tomorrow’s local food systems

Our Approach

At Provecho Collective, we fund community-led initiatives to advance a more just and nourishing food system across Colorado.

We prioritize getting resources to the food justice leaders, organizers, and community-based groups driving change in their towns and neighborhoods — those often excluded from traditional funding opportunities. Our grant programs are intentionally designed to be low-barrier, highly accessible, and informed by community voices at every stage.

Community Food Grants

The Community Food Grants program supports food pantries, food banks, and other local emergency food providers across Colorado. Funded through House Bill 24-1407 and distributed by Provecho Collective, this five-year initiative provides up to $3 million annually to help organizations purchase and distribute healthy, culturally relevant food while also supporting Colorado farmers and producers.

In Fall 2024, 88 total Colorado organizations were funded, including five regional food banks and 83 local food pantries.

Small Grants, Big Local Impact

When food justice funders partner with Provecho Collective, we help get resources directly to communities. Our microgrants have financed local projects — ranging from on-the-ground work to increase equitable food access to expanding awareness about the Healthy School Meals for All program in public schools.
