Colorado food pantries & banks awarded Community Food Grants

The Governor’s Office, Colorado Department of Human Services, and Colorado Blueprint to End Hunger have come together to announce the distribution of $2,611,500 in funding from the State to 83 food pantries, along with the five Feeding Colorado food banks and their hunger-relief partners across the state.

Community Food Grants available for food pantries

Colorado’s new Community Food Grants support all qualifying emergency food assistance providers with funding, specifically the procurement and distribution of healthy, culturally relevant foods in communities, while also championing local agriculture. The 2024 – 2025 funding application cycle is open only to food pantries.

More microgrants to support small, grassroots efforts increasing healthy food access

March 13, 2024

The Blueprint’s Workgroup #2/3: Healthy Food Access in Communities launched a new microgrant program in 2023, awarding $30,000 to community members and grassroots organizations during its first round of funding. With support from the Colorado Community Health Alliance, they’re now pledging a total of $24,000 to support more small projects that aim to increase access to nutritious, affordable food in local communities. The application opens on Friday, March 15.

New evaluation of Food Pantry Assistance Grants shows increased access to fresh foods, improved equitable practices

The Blueprint invests in local communities to increase healthy food access for everyone living in our state. We provide accessible funding opportunities and distribute grants to support community-based organizations, particularly those traditionally overlooked for funding, who are leading day-to-day work in their local areas and neighborhoods.

We recently contracted with Alarus Development International to conduct a thorough evaluation of the Food Pantry Assistance Grant program’s 2022 – 2023 funding cycle, which distributed $2,351,000 to 142 grantees serving diverse communities across Colorado.
